Last week, 12 of us visited Rimtang, a new Thai restaurant right by campus that blew us away. The warm, homey atmosphere was matched by the love evident in the food — several of the dishes are those Chef Saran’s mother made for him growing up. Chef told us his favorite thing on the menu is Mama’s Fried Rice, a buttery, garlicky rice dish full of lump crab.

We got to speak to both Chef Saran and his wife Cici about the conception of the restaurant — they wanted it to be a tribute to Chef’s mother, and a place where Chef could provide a diverse menu of foods from all over Thailand. Our dishes were plated in a style representing this goal, with one dish each at the north, east, south, and west sides of the plate.
