maketto
This week, 12 of us visited Maketto, a Cambodian-Taiwanese fusion restaurant in Northeast DC. We had the amazing opportunity to speak with Head Chef Erik about his vision for the restaurant, and how his and his wife wanted to bring the restaurant-retail hybrid concept that gained popularity in Taiwan here to DC.
Erik told us how Maketto’s menu has stayed much the same since its opening 10 years ago, consisting of a set of iconic dishes beloved by its many regulars. We loved the creativity of the menu and the innovative takes on traditional dishes — from the chewy, puffy scallion pancakes to the flavorful beef chili served with crisp and creamy Gruyère dumplings, every dish we tried was incredible.
